APS Data Awards

Under the banner of NBIC and the Bushfire Boundary Project and as part of Geoscience Australia’s submission EMSINA members and thier agencies were collectively recognised as the ‘winners’ of the Australian Public Service Award.  This work that so many EMSINA Members and Agency's participate in developing and delivering was recognised last night as the Australian Government’s leading example of data sharing and partnerships; sounds very much like one of EMSINA’s Mission Statements doesn’t it!

Bringing together this bushfire data into a National product is a tiny element of this Project.  In presenting this award the Australian Government fully acknowledges the hard work is done by the State's and Territories in effectively collecting, transmitting, processing, validating and then making available this data.  Without that complex and time-consuming work and the willingness to participate there would simply be no National bushfire project or products.

Congratulations to all those who participate, in whatever way, in making this important spatial data available to not only your state/territory but to the Australian Government.
